Youth for Sustainable Food Futures

Project: Youth for Sustainable Food Futures: Mobilizing change in Estonian rural areas

Duration: April 2025- November 2026

Funding: Regrant of the project #Rebooting the Food System: Youth Engagement for Agroecology and Due Diligence (Reboot), under by the European Commission DEAR programm

Summary:
The project empowers rural youth in Estonia to actively engage with sustainable food systems through experiential learning, youth-led initiatives, and community collaboration. Experts will develop an educational toolkit, while capacity-building activities—including cooking classes, farm visits, and the creation of heritage edible plant beds—will encourage hands-on learning and critical thinking among youth in Lake Peipsi municipalities.  Sustainable Food Week events in schools will raise awareness of food security, waste reduction and climate-friendly diets. The project concludes with community workshop on sustainable food practices, fostering long-term engagement and behavior change.

This is the re-grant of Reboot Food - EU funded project.  Reboot Food is involving 14 organisations from 9 countries, all advocating for a fair and sustainable food system. The mission is to support those most affected by industrial agriculture and its harmful consequences, such as climate change and human rights violations—particularly in the Global South and, in the future, especially the young generation. Our vision is a food system that is based on agroecological farming, where food is not only healthy the people but also for the planet. We call on everyone to REBOOT THE FOOD SYSTEM.
