Biodiversity and food

Project: Educational materials and public awareness on viodiversity and sustainable food systems interconnections
Duration: April-December 2025

Funder: ESTDEV - Estonian Centre for International Development

Coordinator: Margit Säre, margitsare @ gmail.com

Summary:
Our project focuses on Planet sustainability topics- biodiversity loss, food security sustainability and its relation to pollinators
in the ecosystem.
Pollination is one of the most important mechanisms in the maintenance and promotion of biodiversity and life on Earth. Pollinators are critical for food production and human livelihoods and directly link wild ecosystems with agricultural production systems.
A studyprogramme and a poster on the links between biodiversity and food security and the role of pollinators, an
educational guide and an online quiz will be produced. We will organise  training sessions on pollinators and  field trips
for teachers; 5 pilot learning days for children and an invitation to participate in a nature observation on pollinators, we will
participate in 4 public events on the environment with an information stand.
We will arry out 1 media campaign to raise awareness on global challenges related to biodiversity, food security.
The project will support the implementation of the Global Citizen competences model by developing and testing new
learning programmes and digital learning materials.

Project is implemented by the NGO Peipsi Centre for Tarnsboundary Cooperation and the Green School Network.
