Teachers from six European countries trained on how to use educational role play games at school during the workshop held in Gmina Mełgiew, Poland
The 3-days EduLarp workshop held in Gmina Mełgiew, Poland, from 27th to 29th April 2023, brought together six partners from Poland, Greece, Sweden, and Estonia to provide training to an international group of teachers on how to use educational role play games.
Erasmus+ cooperation project GreenEduLARP aims to empower teachers with new competencies in environmental education using educational Live Action Role Play games (eduLARP) and to enhance students with confidence and agency skills through the LARPing methodology and teamwork. One of the project results is GreenEduLarp curriculum and supportive toolkit for the teachers.
Aim of the curriculum is to support late primary and secondary education teachers, implement the GEL methodology in school with LARPing for students towards a greener changemaking attitude using scenarios to trigger behavioral shift and action. The 3-days GEL training workshop hosted in Poland, by Szkola Podstawowa brought all together 40 participants from Estonia, Greece, Poland and Sweden.
During the workshop, the different elements of the GreenEduLarp Curriculum, teachers’ toolkit, Audio-visual Hub and Strategy were presented and explained. Participants got LARPing experience combined with Climate Change education in order to learn the methodology to apply it later back in their country and respective schools.
The workshop focused on several modules covering different aspects of EduLarp. During the workshop, participants engaged in discussions about organizing EduLARP games, place accessibility, props, and item creation, character creation, managing a game, debriefing, and learning outcomes. The workshop also included a presentation by the Larp for Climate project, which gave a climate LARP example for inspiration.
Through this Curriculum, they will have an essential tool for them and their students to be trained on LARPing combined with Climate Change Education (CCE) and developing 21st century skills.
