New Estonia-Russia cross border cooperation project on Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Lake Peipsi/Chudskoe-Pskovskoe region

On 15 April, kick off meeting of the Estonia-Russian project “CuNaHe: Improved network of formal and informal education institutes to support Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Lake Peipsi/Chudskoe-Pskovskoe region” takes place in Tartu. The event is organized by Estonian lead partner Peipsi Center for Transboundary Cooperation and brings together our partners Räpina Co-Educational Gymnasium, Pechory Secondary school nr 3, Russian NGO partner Lake Peipsi Project, also two associated partners - University of Tartu Center for Educational Innovation and Pskov State University and steering committee.

The project aims to improve cross border cooperation in the field of formal and informal education institutes; focusing innovative methods and active learning in the field of common cultural and natural heritage of Lake Peipsi/Chudskoe region.

During 2 years we will develop joint methodology for educational programs in the field of natural and cultural heritage in Lake Peipsi region, organize outdoor programs and summer schools for children, field trips and trainings for educators.  We also work for awareness of the cultural and natural heritage of the region on wider level through Lake Peipsi/Chudskoe heritage days and PR campaign. Very importantly – the project contributes to the improvement of digital learning is schools though set up of Science laboratories.

We believe that our project will result making people knowledgeable on richness of our common territory of Lake Peipsi/Chudskoe region – through innovative, interactive, jointly developed methodologies and awareness activities. When people are aware of the uniqueness and richness of cultural and natural heritage of their home region, they have higher motivation to preserve and promote it. This project has been implemented with the financial support of Estonia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 and The Foundation Environmental Investments Centre. Total amount of the project is 164 763,00 euros. The amount of the support of the Estonia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 is 148 286,70 euros.
