Together with our European partners, Peipsi Center for Transboundary Cooperation, organizes different events during September, to celebrate all-European initiative - the European Cooperation Day.
In spring 2012, Peipsi Peipsi CTC launched two Estonia – Latvia – Russia cross border cooperation program me projects:
- “Greenman” project on green management of urban areas gathered it 10 partners from Estonia, Latvia and Russia to Tartu and during the 12-14 September project partners plated trees in the Friendship Alley on the embankment of Emajogi River; organized an international seminar and study tour on green management in cities. - “People with Nature” project, aiming to raise public environmental awareness for sustainable nature conservation, organizes study tour in Estonia, during the week 25-29 September, for its 10 Estonian, Latvian and Russian partners. Read more: http://www.ctc.ee/running/greenman
Peipsi CTC is also involved in EU FP7 border regions Research Project “EUBORDERREGIONS. European Regions, EU External Borders and the Immediate Neighbours". Last week Peipsi CTC coordinators had a meeting with their Russian partners to launch a field research on the Estonian-Russian border area, in parallel with other 11 case study areas all over Europe, with an aim to identify challenges to economic, social and territorial cohesion as well as regional development potentials as exemplified by different borderlands at the EU’s external frontiers. European Cooperation Day: almost 40 countries will come together to celebrate cooperation and bridge-building between local communities across borders. Public events will take place during the week of 17-23 September all over Europe. Besides the fun, this will also be an opportunity to discover all the improvements local initiatives have brought to all aspects of your daily life; from creating jobs, to improving health care services, and the protection of environment, transport or energy.
